Many Traditions and Two Museums
Small trading community in a land of breeding and agriculture, Lamballe has a very ancient tradition in arts and crafts. Many types of craftsmanship built its history, and several fairs were held in town, the perfect trading place for the numerous farm producers of the area. The tradition remains, with a contemporary flair: large weekly market, wide variety of stores and businesses, strong craftsmanship. Two museums are dedicated to the history of these traditions, in short... the history of people!

Musée d’Art Populaire du Pays de Lamballe (Folk Art Museum)

Located in the Maison du Bourreau, the Musée d'Art Populaire du Pays de Lamballe is managed by a group of local history lovers, the Association des Amis du Vieux Lamballe et du Penthièvre, and showcases large segments of the city's history. A small-scale model of the fortified city, a collection of tools, costumes and ancient photographs, a beautiful selection of ceramics and pottery and temporary exhibits outline the different development eras of the city.
