Three Blooms for a Thousand Flowers
Citizens and Municipal Services alike take pride in greeting with flowers. The city received 3 blooms in the 2007 edition of Villes et Villages Fleuris de France.
A Natura 2000 Network Biotope ... heritage of Potters !
The nearby town of « La Poterie », a part of Greater Lamballe, owes its name to the prolific pottery activity that prevailed until the middle of the 20th century. Potters would extract clay from the surrounding moors, creating hundreds of holes in the land. A very specific flora and fauna developped in this unique environment, leading to the inclusion of the site in the Natura 2000 Network.
A Protected biotope, la « Lande des Potiers » (Potters' moor), 4 kms from the city centre, is an absolute must for nature lovers. A hiking trail and accompanying booklet facilitate the visit and comprehension of the site. Activities and workshops are offered regularly, and L’Hôté d’Potier, or Potter's House, in town, is a Museum dedicated to this traditional craft.
A self-discovery guide is available at the Tourist Office, in French, for 2,30 Euros (+ shipping where available)
