Until the mid 1900's, The 12 stables were home to close to 400 national stallions.  With the creation of an Association to manage this heritage site, along with a 14-hectare equestrian park,  Lamballe is today at the heart of an innovative regional equestrian centre.

Guided tours, performances, exhibits, riding sports, pedagogic workshops and breeding presentations all offer the opportunity to discover this unique living heritage site, and to learn more about national horse-breeding activities, with approximately 50 national stallions on site.  An impressive collection of 19th-century coaches and one of the most beautiful saddle rooms in French National Stud Farms are highlights of the visit.

Horses in the City and in Lifesculpture.jpg

The National Stud Farm is an important part of the city, both geographically and in spirit.  Naturally, it has inspired many artistic creations...

Two riding clubs, La Poterie Equitation (bourg de La Poterie – 4km from downtown) and the Landéhen Poney Club (Landéhen – 6km) offer the opportunity to practice equestrian sports, from beginners to competition levels, to the simple pleasures of horseback riding through nature.
